Dana T. Weekes built a respected career in law and policy advocacy, working across legislative and regulatory issues and helping clients navigate complex, high-stakes problems. But even with success, strong teams, meaningful work, and professional recognition, something was breaking underneath the surface.
By 2020, Dana was exhausted. Years of long days, pandemic crisis work, and internal leadership responsibilities pushed her into survival mode. When she tried to resign, her firm’s global chairman saw something she could not fully see yet. He told her she deserved to rest.
That sabbatical became the beginning of a deeper reckoning. Dana eventually stepped away from her legal career, took a year to focus on rest, and began rebuilding her life around agency, voice, and self-acceptance. Today, she is the founder of Thrive Architects and host of The Rest of Us podcast.
This conversation is about more than leaving a job. It is about what happens when success disconnects you from yourself, and what it takes to return to your own voice.
