33: Integrating Work With Life – Bev Attfield

Have you been feeling lost or uncertain about your career path during the pandemic?

On today’s episode of Why I Left, Brian Aquart chats with Bev Attfield, partner at Within People and former host of People at Work.

Bev shares her journey of leaving her job in the tech industry and how she found purpose in helping organizations create supportive environments for humans. During our conversation, Bev shares her experiences of transitioning to remote work overnight due to COVID-19 and the challenges that came with losing physical connection with her colleagues.

She also talks about her multi-year backpacking and running journey through 30 countries and how it inspired her to pursue a career in organizational development and psychology. We explore how the pandemic has changed the traditional office work structure and how the company Bev worked for had to shift its attitude towards remote work. This sparked an opportunity for her to explore her own work-life integration and desire for freedom.

Her journey is full of inspiration and will encourage you to find your own purpose and passion. Bev currently works with Within People, a global partnership of strategists and consultants that helps people grow their companies. She shares her experiences of working in a self-managed structure with no bosses or timesheets, but partners work together with a shared philosophy.

It’s a refreshing approach to work and one that has allowed Bev to test her own beliefs and learn from different clients and partners. This is an episode not to be missed.

Tune in to the podcast to hear Bev’s inspiring story. We hope it helps you find your own purpose.

Enjoy the conversation!
